If you do NOT confirm your appointment by clicking the confirmation button (example pictured) WITHIN your client hub your driveway service will NOT be completed.
(look for this button in your client hub)
Date and Time of Service:
- Your service date is mentioned in the email and text message sent during the weekly schedule update, and it's also accessible from within your client hub.
- We don't provide specific service times; your driveway will be completed in the order assigned to your crew lead. Due to the varying number and complexity of projects daily, it's challenging to give an exact arrival time.
- You are not required to be present at the time of service - in fact, most homeowners are not.
- We work effectively alongside garbage crews, lawn mowers, landscapers, and other contractors throughout the summer. In most cases, these services don't hinder us from completing our work and aren’t cause for a reschedule.
- The target service week we communicated leading up to your appointment date allows time for you to plan ahead. The target week may have changed due to weather or unforeseen delays. If the communicated service date doesn't suit you, contact us promptly. If rescheduling is necessary, we'll work to fit you into the next available service date or accommodate your new timeline and scheduling preferences to the best of our ability.
How to Prepare for your Service:
- Thoroughly rinse off ALL chalk from the driveway, ensuring NO residue remains once it's dried. Chalk can hinder the sealcoat from adhering properly.
- Turn off all sprinklers and sprinkler systems BEFORE the service and keep them off for 1 day AFTER the service.
- Before the crew arrives, ensure that everything you may need from your garage is out of the way & NOT on the driveway.
- Do not block the direct entrance to your driveway or the areas on each side of the driveway entrance - we need room for a truck and trailer.
- Make sure everything is off your driveway. Crews will not touch or move your personal property, including - but not limited to: drain spouts, potted plants, garbage cans, hoses, trailers, bikes, etc.
Weather Information:
- Weather is beyond our control and poses the main challenge to maintaining our schedule. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility. We closely monitor the weather and will decide to postpone, delay, or reschedule if necessary.
- Keep in mind that a reschedule due to weather is in your best interest. We prioritize high-quality work and won't risk working in inadequate weather conditions (before, during, and after the service) for optimal results.
- Conditions such as temperatures below 50 degrees or above 85 degrees, wet surfaces without sufficient time to dry before a service, recent or ongoing rain, or a high chance of rain within 4-6 hours of application may lead to rescheduling. It's as frustrating for us as it is for you when we delay or reschedule services and the forecasted/projected inadequate weather (we based the delay/reschedule on) does NOT materialize.
We believe in being risk-averse rather than taking chances. Poor weather conditions can result in sealant not adhering properly (due to low temps, inadequate sun exposure, wet & shaded surfaces), flash drying due to high temps, or rainfall causing recently applied and/or undried sealant to splatter onto concrete, rocks, landscaping, garage doors, siding, etc.
Payment Information:
- Payment is required on the service date
- For on-site payments at the time of service, we accept checks or cash. If you're not at home, you may (if you desire) leave a check/cash in an envelope between your front doors, under a doormat, or in a designated area accessible to crew members. If this is what you intend to do, please alert us via email or phone call on where you plan to leave payment. Please note that we do not accept credit or debit cards for in-person payments.
- If you prefer to pay with a credit or debit card, you will receive an invoice via email and/or text message after the service is completed. Simply click the link in the message to securely make a payment using your debit or credit card within your client hub.
- Tipping is NOT required but always welcomed. Any tips are paid directly to the crew members that completed your service.
After your service is complete:
- Keep sprinklers and sprinkler systems off for 24 hours.
- We recommend keeping the tape up and avoiding use of the driveway for 48 hours. Do not walk, drive, ride, glide, or park on it during this time; 24 hours is the minimum amount of time to stay off the driveway after application.
- Be cautious about parking directly on the crack filling product, especially on days exceeding 80 degrees, as your car tire may leave imprints. In most cases, imprints do not affect the material's functionality or quality.
- Avoid excessive steering / turning on the driveway as this can create power steering marks. Steering and tire marks are normal, especially on newer (paved in the last 5 years or smoother asphalt surfaces) driveways. If these marks occur, they will disappear and do NOT impact the functionality or quality of the sealant.
Things to Keep in mind:
- Black surfaces show everything and reveal imperfections, including those unnoticed before the service. Your driveway is likely at its cleanest and most uniform color immediately after sealcoating, you’ll notice things you haven’t noticed before.
- Sealcoating doesn't smoothen or alter the texture of your driveway; it binds to the porous asphalt, ‘shrink wrapping’ the surface as it dries to seal and protect from the elements. It is not to be viewed as an additional layer of asphalt - but adds durability, preserves the asphalt, and provides aesthetic benefits.
- Expect steering and tire track marks in the first month, especially on newer driveways (paved in the last 5 years or smoother asphalt surfaces). These will fade with use and exposure to the elements. These marks do NOT impact the functionality or quality of the service or product.
- The crack filling product may not dry flush with the driveway - this doesn't affect its ability to keep water out. If there are gaps in the crack filling product it is likely due to how large the crack is beneath the surface. Gravity pulls the material down into the crack as it dries and there is no way to know this until long after the crew has left the site. Please remember, we do NOT fill in micro cracking or alligator cracking on the driveway. This is treated with sealcoating emulsion only. If you have questions, contact us and share photos for our review.
- Trimming of the grass along the sides of the driveway is meant to reveal the asphalt surface for proper sealcoating coverage. It is not always necessary and is not meant to be viewed as a landscaping / aesthetic part of the service.
In the past 15 years, we've learned that scheduling is like an art - juggling hundreds of client requests, unpredictable weather, and unforeseen circumstances. At the end of the day - we're all human, and occasional mistakes can occur. Our goal is to meet your needs and provide a top-notch customer experience along with a high-quality finished product. If your service date is rescheduled, rest assured it was a decision made with careful consideration.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. We're here to assist you and are always happy to help. We appreciate your business and look forward to working with you soon!

- Turn off all sprinklers and sprinkler systems BEFORE the service and keep them off for 24 hours AFTER the service is complete.
- Before the crew arrives, ensure that everything you may need from your garage is out of the way & NOT on the driveway.
- Please be sure that your garage door(s) is/are open so the crew can have ample working space at the top of the driveway. This is important for apron replacements, full driveway installation or replacements, or any patchwork towards the top of the driveway.
- Do not block the direct entrance to your driveway or the areas on each side of the driveway entrance.
- Make sure everything is off your driveway. Crews will not touch or move your personal property, including - but not limited to: drain spouts, potted plants, garbage cans, hoses, trailers, bikes, etc.
Payment Information:
- A 50% down payment is due to hold a mutually agreeable date of service on the calendar.
- For any payments over $3,000 we require a cash or check. Any outstanding payment / balance is due on the final service date.
- Cash or Check Payments: The crew does NOT go back to the office - as they go directly back to our shop/yard. Please send a check to our mailing address (735 Terrace Drive Shoreview, MN 55126) after the service is completed. Please note that we do not accept credit or debit cards in-person.
- If you prefer to pay with a credit or debit card and your outstanding balance is $3,000 or less - you will receive an invoice via email and/or text message after the service is completed. Simply click the link in the message to securely make a payment using your debit or credit card within your client hub.
After your service is complete:
- Keep all traffic OFF the paved area for a minimum of 3 days AFTER the surface has been paved.
- The paved area CANNOT be parked on for at least 12 days AFTER the surface has been paved.
- You may drive over / pass over the surface 3 days AFTER it has been paved - to park your vehicle in the garage
- We recommend parking on 2 foot x 3 foot x ¾ inch plywood after the 12 day NO parking period on any day over 90 degrees fahrenheit, if parking on the surface is necessary during those extreme temperatures.
- Sealcoating & Crack filling services performed every 2-3 years
- If your service comes with a warranty, every time the driveway is sealcoated and crack filled by Driveway Envy - it renews the warranty coverage for another 3 years - with a maximum of 10 years coverage from the installation date. It is recommended that you regularly sealcoat (every 2-3 years) your driveway starting at least 12 months after the driveway was installed. Asphalt sealer offers a protective coating that’s impervious to road salt, anti-freeze, gasoline, oil, and grease. Sealcoating will also fill hairline cracks and keep your driveway looking beautiful with a uniform black finish. Unprotected driveways remain porous, dry out, become rough, and lose their life rapidly. Crack filling is essential for keeping water out of the driveway. Midwest winters cause the driveway to move throughout freezing and thawing cycles. Any cracks that occur should be filled in the spring/summer.
Things to Keep in mind:
- The liquid asphalt binder in the blacktop needs time to cure - asphalt is not instantly rigid like other hard surface products. Indentations that occur in the first 2 to 3 years are normal. Any object with a high psi can cause indentations in new asphalt. Closely follow the requirements above and notes below to properly care for and maintain your new driveway surface.
- Roller marks can be visible in the new driveway. They will disappear over time and through use of the driveway surface.
- Asphalt texture varies. The surface may look smoother in some areas than in others. Blacktop has various sizes of stone, sand, liquid asphalt, etc. which cause a varied texture of the surface. Areas that have been raked / spread with hand tools may appear different in texture from those spread by a machine. Minor pitting may also occur - this is normal due to the materials asphalt is made of.
- Along with varied textures - there may also be color variations across the new asphalt surface ranging from gray-ish black to black. Sometimes the look of a newly sealcoated driveway is confused with a newly paved driveway. Sealcoated driveways look dark black and are consistent in color. New asphalt is not. As the driveway cures and is exposed to the elements, the variance in color will become less noticeable and the surface will fade to a light gray. Regular sealcoating services will help ensure the surface is a uniform black color.
- Try to park in different spots the first 6 to 12 months. During the first 6-12 months while the asphalt is curing do not park in the same spot every time.
- Keep excessive weight of new asphalt. Excessive weight from large heavy vehicles can depress the new blacktop. Keep any heavy trucks off the new asphalt. When storing campers or boats (and other similar items) for long periods of time, place a piece of plywood under the tongue jack and tires.
- Avoid driving on new driveway edges. The edges are the weakest part of your driveway due to the lack of side support and unsupported edges can crack/crumble. We recommend placing dirt, grass, or landscaping against the edge to support the asphalt.
- Avoid gasoline, oil, anti-freeze, power steering and transmission fluid spills and leaks. These spills can dissolve the surface and result in deterioration. Clean up any spills with absorbent materials to prevent damage. Do not park any vehicle that leaks oil or gas on the driveway. If any of these spills leave a hole, it should be filled with a cold patch - contact us for more info.
- Expansion and contraction cracks are unavoidable in northern climates where weather changes are extreme. Most cracks that appear on the driveway surface are from the ground freezing and thawing (ground movement). Cracks that develop over the winter should be filled with industrial grade crack filler.
- Preserve the new asphalt surface with regular sealcoating services.

Property owner is responsible for obtaining approval from the city, and the completion of prerequisite work (+ the associated costs) from your city, electric/gas companies for private installation on property (if applicable), irrigation companies, etc. to ensure the project is approved, the work space is safe, and we are able to perform our scope of work without delay or interference. Please consult your irrigation company for any system modifications needed BEFORE asphalt paving work. Driveway Envy is not responsible for any damage to irrigation systems that are within or adjacent to the area to be paved if the irrigation system was supposed to be modified ahead of the paving service and it was not.
